Africamix Benefit Festival Open Free Online Registration to Young Talent
SACRAMENTO, Calif - November 24, 2001 - Africamix, a volunteer-based traveling arts and music festival organized to help combat child abuse and neglect, has opened free registration, via its Web site, to young artists and musicians interested in contributing their talents to the cause.
According to Africamix spokesperson, Beatrice Gatebuke, the festival organization is encouraging young artists and musicians who are interested in being a voice for abused and neglected children to register as soon as possible via the Web site--www.africamix.com. The online registration process is free and open now through January of 2002. Registrants will be screened for their talent and interest in helping fight child abuse and neglect.
"It is an excellent opportunity for many young musicians, who are looking to make a difference on a global scale, to showcase their talents to potential sponsors and establish themselves internationally ", Gatebuke said.
The festival, seen by many as the largest coordinated effort to help combat child abuse and neglect in black communities, wishes to demonstrate that musicians and artists should be a part of any collective effort aimed at community-based child abuse intervention and prevention activities, according to Gatebuke.
The collective volunteer pledge for needy children festival will commence its global tour in California in June 2002 and travel from there to 20 countries around the world. Hosts for the Africamix 2002 tour include the U.S. in June, Canada in July, England and France in August, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Ethiopia in September; Zambia, Mozambique, Madagascar and South Africa in October; Botswana, Angola, Congo Brazaville, DR Congo and Segal in November.
