Africamix Meeting in Kenya Announced for 1 June

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 22 /CNW/ -- Africamix Collective VolunteerPledge For Needy Children first meeting in Kenya is scheduled for Saturday,June 1, 2002 at the International Hotel in Nairobi. "It is a public holiday so anyone who's working fulltime can attend and it's a good day for those of us
that do not live in Nairobi," said Lizzie W. Kiama, Africamix volunteer from
Mombassa.

"The first meeting will be an opportunity for those who have demonstrated support of the initiative to communicate as a group and establish a volunteer committee to address issues related to organising the upcoming Africamix Collective Volunteer Pledge For Needy Children Festival in Kenya," said George Onyango, Africamix volunteer and acting contact person.

"The support this concept has received in Kenya to date is impressive and encouraging. We believe in it and we believe that incorporating volunteer arts and music celebrations into community-based child abuse intervention and prevention activities can profoundly change many needy children's world. This
first meeting will ensure that the momentum will be turned into effective action," he added.
